A Web site designed to help people search for unclaimed money is misleading and violates Pennsylvania consumer law, state prosecutors said in a lawsuit.

The state attorney general's office sued a Massachusetts man in Commonwealth Court on Friday, saying he and his businesses deceived consumers, violated reporting requirements and did not deliver what they promised.

Pennsylvania investigators put the names of cartoon characters such as Batman, Spiderman and Wile E. Coyote through the site at http://www.unclaimedmoney.us.com. In each instance, the attorney general's office said, they were told multiple sources of unclaimed money were available.

But the free search provided only vague information, and visitors were then offered a $24.95 membership that would result in more details, the office said.

The defendants are Areg A. Sakanyan, of Waltham, Mass.; the Web site; and related business entities Modeling Group, Unclaimed Money Database and Unclaimed Money.

A phone listing for Sakanyan could not be located, and it was not clear whether he had a lawyer.

The attorney general's office is asking for an injunction, restitution for consumers, civil fines and other financial penalties.

Bottom line...you get what you pay for, and if you are not careful, you can get scammed out of your money rather than finding what's rightfully yours!

More users trust UnclaimedMoney.net to help them find their money the correct way, and appreciate the ability to contact a real person when needed.

I am excited to have the opportunity to show you how to find your unclaimed money.

I can't think of a better way to spend 2008 than paying off bills or taking an extra vacation this year. The best part is you can do so by finding money you didn't know you had. I'm not talking about finding that forgotten $5 bill you left in your jacket pocket. I'm talking about serious cash which you or a relative may have left behind.

Though you may not realize it right now, you should consider yourself lucky. It's amazing how many Americans have never heard about unclaimed money, though these funds have been featured on every major and minor news channels, radio stations and newspapers. At least you have taken the first step and started investigating.

Allow me to guide you all the way!

Thinking back to when I first heard of Unclaimed Money on Oprah, I was 99.9% skeptical.

I remember thinking, it's hard to believe money is floating around "out there" 'somewhere' I do not know about.

I mean...How could 40 Billion dollars be floating around which people don't know about? That's a lot of money!

Sounds ridiculous, and believe me, I remember the feeling.

I now know, unclaimed money is very real.

However, because I was once in your shoes, I'll bet you're asking...

  • What If I really do have lost unclaimed money "out there"?

  • What if my parents, brothers, sisters, aunts & uncles have money coming to them? I could be the family hero!

  • What if I have been wasting my money on lottery tickets?

  • What if I really can make a claim for money from deceased relatives?

  • What if I can search for anyone I desire with without paying per search or monthly fees?

  • What if I find enough money to pay off my credit card bills?

One of the most common questions I get is "how do I know a claim I found online under my name is actually mine?"
This is an excellent question, and the answer is...you will only know if the unclaimed money is your by conducting a search and processing the claim.

7 out of 10 Americans are estimated to be due a claim.

A 70% chance you have money waiting for you right now!

2 BIG problems!

1. MOST PEOPLE NEVER SEARCH

2. OF THOSE WHOM HAVE SEARCHED PREVIOUSLY, THEY'VE ONLY  SEARCHED ONCE. Everyone should search at least once per year!

Even if you've searched yearly, odds are great you are searching the wrong sites.

YEP! Even if you've searched before, odds are great you searched incorrectly, and I have proof. In the unlikely event I am wrong, you'll receive every penny of your investment back.

Do you recognize the value and opportunity sitting in front of you right now? You have an amazing opportunity to surprise yourself, family and friends finding unclaimed money. There's no better gift than money and you'll be the hero of the family.

With something this exciting, it's interesting to observe how people will take chances on lottery tickets (with odds are about the same or worse than getting stuck by lightning), than to a 7 in 10 odds of finding money which they, or a family member has left behind.

Don't be one of those people!

Think about it. 7 in 10 odds are worth the investment.

However, when beginning a search online, I feel obligated to warn you, ALL unclaimed money web sites are NOT created equal!

Here's why:

When I first searched my name in 1996, I found a match immediately! Holy cow! Almost $1700 was coming to me!

I searched my parents and they too had a match!

I searched friends names...match, match match!

I was coming up with jackpots at every angle.

Sound familiar with other websites
you have used?

The saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" kept ringing in my head. Since I had first heard of unclaimed money on Oprah Winfrey (whom I admire and respect tremendously), I was still optimistic. (By the way, I do not recommend using the site Oprah recommended. Her intentions were good, but the source is not ideal in my opinion).

Oddly enough, when I would search for money owed to me on  unclaimed money sites, either there was not a match at all, or the amounts due under my name were different from the previous site I searched.

On top of that, I would search one site which had a claim in my name, and another which would have no listing at all.

What the heck was going on here? Did Oprah introduce me to a scam? Did she have all the facts?

My guess is Oprah will not have this guest on again. Truth be told and after months of fact gathering, I urge you to search right now.

With over a decade experience with unclaimed money, I have become an expert with helping others find their money, (every penny of it) and avoiding the pitfalls a majority of unclaimed money searchers fall into.
